Summer 2023

Wednesday evening Summer Omnium coaching and racing - All ages

From May to September, at the Frank Machon cycle track at Les Quennevais, St Brelade. Registration is from 5.45pm with the coaching session starting at 6pm until 7pm for Under 6 and Under 8 riders and 6pm to 7.30pm up U10's and older.

The age groups are split in to 3 sections.

U6&U8's - The aim here is to have an hour of playing on bikes, having fun, with a little bit of competition thrown in.

U10&U12 - These riders are learning to be coached - learning and applying skills and techniques delivered by our British Cycling qualified coaches.

U14,U16 and Junior - These riders are learning to Train.  Some riders will be on full training programmes set by their chosen Level 3 coaches and supported by our Level 1 and 2 coaches.  Others aren't focussing on cycling to that level, but all are coached in the same way, with the added element of developing fitness around a structured plan.

All 3 groups have a competitive element to the coaching at every session.

Every 4th week is race week, as well as some other individual events where points are awarded towards the Summer Omnium trophies that are awarded to riders across all age groups.

We strive to make these events inclusive but most importantly, Fun!!

Please note that children cannot be left without a parent or guardian present for the duration of the session. We also rely on parents to help marshal to ensure the safety of the event.

Under 14 and above riders begin to spend more time riding and racing with adults to introduce them and prepare them for joining one of the Jersey Cycling Association senior clubs once they are aged over 18.

We run Talent Development Sessions for Youth B (and selected Youth C transitioning to Youth B) and upwards.

These sessions are specifically designed to improve race craft and skills for those competing in adult and/or off island events.

Please contact Martin Orpin JYC's Head Coach for further details

  • Divisional races with adults are held at Les Quennevais, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, commencing in July.
